Araujo’s is hands down one of the best Mexican restaurants in San Jose! I just learned they started as a food truck and grew so popular that they now have three locations. After trying it myself, I can see why!
The food is unbelievably fresh. I tried all their tacos and was blown away by the flavor and quality. The tortillas are handmade fresh to order, and you can really taste the difference. Their carne asada is made with USDA-choice steak cuts and cooked over real mesquite charcoal, which gives it that amazing, authentic smoky flavor. I also ordered the molcajete, and it was loaded with perfectly seasoned meat, shrimp, and veggies. Such a hearty, satisfying dish!
On top of the incredible food, the restaurant itself is super spacious and very clean. Even the restrooms were spotless, and I loved the cute sink area!

What time does Araujo's open and close?
Both locations open at 9 AM. Berryessa Rd is open daily until 10 PM, and Senter Rd stays open until midnight, so we are here for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and the late-night taco run.
Where are your locations?
We have two San Jose taquerias plus a stand at Levi's Stadium. Find us at 1501 Berryessa Rd, Ste 10, minutes from the Berryessa / North San Jose BART station, at 3070 Senter Rd on the south side of the city, and at Section 319 inside Levi's Stadium on event days.
Are your tortillas really made by hand?
Yes. Our tortillas are made in house and pressed fresh to order, which is the difference people notice first. It is the same way we did it on the taco truck back in 2005.
What should I order on my first visit?
Start with the street tacos, made with USDA choice steak grilled over real mesquite charcoal on tortillas pressed fresh to order. After that, the carne asada fries, quesabirria, and molcajete are our most ordered. Save room for the house-made flan.
Can I order online and do you cater?
Yes to both. Order online for pickup or delivery across the South Bay, and for parties we cater anything from a backyard taco bar to a formal wedding. Give us a call and we will put a plan together.
